Whether with his clever drawings or his wild and crazy poems, Shel Silverstein always knew how to make me laugh – and think.
His new book, Every Thing On It, is as much fun to read as A Light in the Attic or Where the Sidewalk Ends. And, as always, one particular poem found me:
Underface
Underneath my outside face There’s a face that none can see. A little less smiley, A little less sure, But a whole lot more like me.
Shel Silverstein died from a heart attack in 1999, but his quirky humor and droll perspective sometimes remind me of old times…
New Job
Just two hours workin’ in the candy store, And I don’t like candy anymore.
and good times…
Italian Food
Oh, how I love Italian food.
I eat it all the time.
Not just ’cause how good it tastes
But ’cause how good it rhymes.
