  1. I have been wanting to read The Marriage Plot and I’m sure I will! I read other books by Eugenides that I enjoyed a lot. I love the title of the non-fiction book. I hadn’t heard of it, I don’t think.

The Tiger’s Wife is also well-known (like The Marriage Plot) but doesn’t appeal to me somehow.

    • The nonfiction (Blood, Butter, and Bones) is Gabrielle Hamilton’s fictional memoir – her rise to fame as a chef. She admits that she embellished and changed her facts to make the story better – sometimes funny, but it was her pulling herself up from her bootstraps that appealed to me.

    • And…the Tiger’s Wife was hard to get into. I had actually dismissed it after a few chapters, then read a review and went back to it, and was glad I did. The story skips around a lot, and it’s easy to get lost in her descriptions and metaphors – not an easy read.
