Whenever I discover a book I want to read, I find it on my iPhone, download a sample to remind myself to look for it in the library – and then promptly forget about it. If the book has not yet been published in the United States, I need extra incentive to look for it again.
Hoping to remember, here is my short list of books to read soon:
- Ann Patchett’s Commonwealth
- Maria Semple’s Today Will Be Different
- Robert Seethaler’s A Whole Life
- Margot Lee Shetterly’s Hidden Figures
- A.L. Kennedy’s Serious Sweet
Currently, I am reading The Secret River by Kate Grenville.
What books do you have on your to do list?
A lot more than this! I have a spreadsheet where each time I hear of an interesting book i add it together with the place where I heard of it. It sounds organised but in reality i forget to take it with me when I go book shopping!
I left spreadsheets when I retired. Now I have slips of paper everywhere – some actually pop up when i am heading to a bookstore.
I download samples onto my Kindle. Currently have several of your recommendations (The Many, Wolf Hollow, maybe others). If they get past page 6 of my “On Device” page (6 books per page), I usually delete them.
Good idea!
